Tears of Oil

During a University exchange in 2016, Tara studied Intermediate Drawing at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Tara created a series of three charcoal drawings (85cm x 119cm), depicting the confrontation between human being and petroleum. It is a reference to detrimental oil leaks polluting indigenous lands. With "Tears of Oil", Tara's intention was to spark awareness about the destruction of nature and reflection on how it relates to dehumanisation.

During her semester abroad in Canada, Tara was astounded by the vastness of nature. She got involved in the environmentalist movement in Vancouver and felt called to advocate a respectful relationship with nature. Activistic artworks by indigenous artists had inspired her to value the political power of art and she felt called to communicate about global issues in creative ways.
