Welcome Home
With fellow art students of the innovative high school UniC Utrecht, Tara co-created a group exposition at Eiland8 in 2014. Merging interactive installation art, performance, painting, textile and photography, this interdisciplinary art exposition invited visitors into an interactive home. The home consisted of four rooms - bathroom, living room, bedroom and baby room - all immersive experiences with a unique atmosphere.
Tara's main focus was the mirror-filled bathroom. Its door closed automatically, with only stroboscope lights on, countless broken make-up compowders and the sound of dripping tap water, visitors were given an intense experience of reflection. Self-image as a trap: what's left when the outer mask of physical appearance falls apart?
The living room was turned into a 4D interactive colouring page, a reminder that we are in charge of "colouring" our life. The bedroom was filled with balloons with labels attached, inviting visitors to write their dreams onto the tag. Finally, the baby room softly welcomed a reconnection with one's inner child: stuffed animals, then-now pictures of the artists, a mobile with paper birds and the invitation to write a letter to the visitors' younger selves.
